Sic semper tyrannis
There are times for violence. This might be one.
@bonifartius We'll see.
It's too late to talk about building structures unfortunately. That was a conversation for 2011.
@swiley then we can abandon all hope. i don't think you can really violently revolt at todays western states. may work in 3rd world countries, because it's uncomfortable enough there for everyone except the big cheese. the west has perfected bread and games :)
@bonifartius We'll see what happens.
I'm not saying we're there today but it's getting mighty close.
Also: You're assuming the government functions as a unit which is not the case. We nearly had what would essentially be a civil war in Virginia right before Covid hit, the police were planning to fight in opposition to the legislature.
@swiley .. and then they reminded that they have a comfortable home and a family to feed which they need their safe job for ;)
i don't think we need to plan any revolution with people having alexa etc. as surveillance devices in their home anyway :D
i think it's really the best to focus on how one can build free spaces for himself. society as whole is near unchangeable, it is designed that way.
@swiley i think that only would lead to you disappearing in a constantly lit cell with nice airconditioning humming 24/7, with you having occasional bi-monthly visiting hours.
just try to build structures that don't rely on the whole government-big company construct. buy local food at small local companies etc. it's better for everyone except those who want control.
