@HisAndHearsePress We're discussing unusual ways of preserving bodies until a funeral is possible, remembering Nelson, of course, and thought about other methods. Do you know of any cases of preserving by smoking?

I know about Nelson, I don't know how.

I wonder how many people do, without looking it up?

Fair, so I won't even make fun of those who hadn't seen the cartoon before. 😀

@EricLawton @HisAndHearsePress I used it often on Twitter, but this is the first time I typed the whole text in alttext – that's why it took me so long to reply :) [did you notice I even used the approximation sign instead of equals? :]

@HisAndHearsePress

I've recently started a text file for alt txt for images I use frequently. One of my few uses for Google docs.

@EricLawton @HisAndHearsePress Wise. I'm now searching for how to copy an alttext to the clipboard.

I guess it varies by app.

Really easy on fediverse on android, exactly what you'd expect. Tap to show alt text. Long press to get "select all" option, then tap to copy.

I’ll admit that I don’t know about Nelson. Care to enlighten me?

As for alternate means of preservation, we have no pressing need to experiment with new methods since our current ones serve us well enough (embalming and refrigeration). I haven’t heard of smoking a body, but I know that bodies abandoned in particular environments can essentially preserve themselves. Bodies in the desert can more or less mummify. The Egyptians used salt and sand. There are also cases of adipocere and bog bodies.

@HisAndHearsePress @EricLawton So we wondered what happened to all that brandy – did it go to waste? :)
