I just got a SOG Baton Q2 knife in the mail today. I think this is going to become my new everyday carry, I really like the design.
It is essentially a fixed blade folding knife, which you would think is a contradiction. But the knife blade and handle themselves are fix and its actually the sheath that folds down and away. I never saw a knife like this before. I generally dont like folding knives as they can under certain circumstances fold on you while using them and potentially cause a huge injury. But fixed blade knives tend to be big and not really well suited as an every day carry. This one seems to solve that problem giving you the convenience and size of a foldable knife while still being fixed blade.
Really really impressed with the innovation on this knife considering knives are so rarely innovative.
@freemo How does it give you the size of a foldable knife while still being a fixed blade? Unless the knife as a whole is even smaller than a normal foldable knife?
@freemo Right, shirt pockets I can see this being useful at. I don't use shirt pockets, nor have I any, so yeah for me it'd not be as handy.
@trinsec Fair, Though I think a pretty standard pocket should handle it well. Unless your a lady (not sure your gender) in which case none of the clothing is build well for most knives anyway.
@trinsec perhaps not. It is about the length of a pencil or a pen. So to me it is as convient as a pen.
Also I would rather have it longer and slender than bulky. A typical folding knife ina shirt pocket where I kep pens would be too wide and bulky whereas this fits in well enough.
