@lucifargundam Likely where 'temporary' comes from. I can't think of a Dutch word related to this, though. We do have 'tempo' which means speed. I guess that might be somewhat related, actually. Not specifically 'speed' but the time it takes to do something.

I suspect that ancient understanding of speed/time were essentially equivalent. Considering the Roman Empire conquered a majority of Europe- it would not be surprising that some of its latin dialect was passed on in the process.
I apologize for the lack of background and research into the matter. I will however, welcome any insight into the matter.
