Decided to skip diving tomorrow to heal up a bit. Day after tomorrow im doing a deco dive! So stoked.

It is a dive where if the depth or time down isnlong enough you can not safely come up directly to the surface (if you do you get the bends). Therefore you carry two additional tanks on you with 50% and 100% oxygen and you come up part way and switch gases and stay at depth for some time to off gas, then come up a bit farther, repeat until you are finally allowed to surface. Depending on the dive it might take 40 minutes or more to surface as you sit at depth breathing the gas to off gas.

@freemo When is a dive deep enough to require doing that? Or is it a combination of depth and time?
@trinsec the deeper you go the shorter the threshold. At 100 feet youll get like 5 minutes or less till you go into deco. At 70 feet its something like 30 minutes till deco, at 20 feet you wont enter deco at all.
@freemo At 30 meter you have 5 mins before you enter deco.. huh, didn't you already dive 30 meter before? Or was it way shorter than 5 minutes?
@trinsec If you look at the dive profile im only at 30 meters for about a minute or two and spent most of the time slowly descending then ascending. So i was at 30 meters for <5 minutes but the entire dive was an hour.
