Here are the latest totals from China and the US. (Source: Johns Hopkins Univ.)

China
Cases: 4,903,496
Deaths : 97,643

US
Cases: 102,310,448
Deaths: 1,107,852

@Pat Provided China has been reporting correctly. Which I doubt.

@trinsec

>"Provided China has been reporting correctly. Which I doubt."

I don't trust the US or China, and I don't think either one would have numbers that are any more reliable than the other. But this is all we got.

@Pat I'd trust US more than China. Otherwise the US would've not even had 1M deaths.

@trinsec

Well, China did the right things to control the epidemic there, and the US did all the wrong things, so those numbers make sense from that standpoint.

@Pat China did NOT do the right thing. They didn't bother to flatten the curve, that's why hell is now breaking loose now that they let it go uncontrolled. Also, a too low percentage is vaccinated, or they're not properly vaccinated because they're too proud to admit that their vaccine is underperforming.

Seriously, stop worshipping China with regards to covid. They did NOT do the right thing.

@trinsec

I don't worship China, but I abhor what the US did to its own citizens.

China didn't flatten the curve; they eliminated the curve.

There is only one way to evaluate the success or failure of a country's COVID-19 policies -- the number of cases and deaths, and the number of people with long-term chronic illness.

@Pat
You may abhor what USA does, that's fair. But to pull in China to compare with USA is totally apples and oranges. Both were shit, and both were the extreme opposites in the shit-region.

China didn't flatten the curve, didn't eliminate the curve. They paused it until they had to let go of their lockdown and then the curve is just there, merely delayed.

China's got 2 years to catch up in numbers.

Oh, and by the way, China underreports. For sure.

2 years ago, around the time Covid hits, and China kept reporting like max 3000 deaths while other countries spiraled out of control, it was already reported that China had more deaths than usual. Crematoria were overfilled. But.. hey, it wasn't covid, so not worth reporting on!

I'm sure it was covid. They just weren't allowed to announce it to the world at large.

China did NOT do the right thing.

@trinsec

I live in the US. The whole reason I even mentioned China was to counter all the propaganda coming out of the US mainstream media. I live here. I see it everyday. The media in the US are pumping this shit out full throttle right now. They are just flat out lying about what China is doing and what is happening there. They are trying to prep the US population in the US to go to war against China, so we're seeing a bunch of propaganda right now.

The fact is that China busted our asses in fighting COVID-19. And the policymakers in the US fucked up -- big time. That's a fact. There's no use even arguing about this -- the numbers speak for themselves. Which is why I am tooting them out, without comment.

@Pat Again, your toots make me believe that you actually believe China's numbers. And I've been saying over and over again that their numbers are not to be believed. And you keep saying over and over again that 'the numbers speak for themselves'.

I don't care about the propaganda. Get a better example. -.-

@trinsec

I know that the US killed more than a million Americans. That's more COVID-19 deaths than other country in the world. There are only a few countries in the world that had a higher overall percentage death rate than the US.

You can literally throw a dart at a map of the world, and the country that it lands on did a better job than the US.

@Pat Then you might as well get Sweden as example. -.-

@trinsec

The mainstream media in the US is not talking about Sweden.

Follow

@Pat Oh, so now you're going mainstream, how convenient.

You know what, forget it. I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall here. I won't be reading your future messages anymore.

@trinsec

I meant that the mainstream media was not putting out a false narrative about Sweden, so I didn't need to provide a counter to it.
