"He has shown himself to be misogynist, ableist, and transphobic, among other serious accusations of impropriety. These sorts of beliefs have no place in the free software, digital rights, and tech communities."
I don't understand this ideological purity stuff. Why do his other opinions matter to his advocacy of free software?

@valleyforge For starters, I dont think he is those things they accuse him of. But if he was, it does make some sense to limit his contribution.

Misogynistic leaders, for example, will propose misogynistic policies. As leaders they have a lot of sway to get support than a mere contributor. So it might make sense they wouldn't want him, or at least someone with those qualities, in a leadership position, which is inevitable given his status really.

After All dont we pick the people in any community for any position based on the types of policies and ideology they support?

@freemo I think that would make sense if here were in a position to make policy regarding the people he's accused of being prejudiced against but, his contributions and advocacy of free software aren't related to gender. Although I'm not extremely familiar with what all the FSF does so maybe I'm wrong.
