Eric Adams doing everything he can to prevent Mamdani from enacting rent control is fundamentally anti-democratic, and toxically pro-landlord, but I won’t hold my breath about it, that’s NYC baseline

It also heavily implies that Adams, Cuomo, and the Dem leadership have resigned themselves to a Mamdani victory

It’s pretty amazing how the Dems wouldn’t lift a finger to prevent Trump from taking over everything before he came into office, but they’re going so hard against Mamdani. Tells you where their priorities are.

The Dems are really going harder on stopping rent control in NYC than they have ever gone on stopping American fascism. You really can’t make this stuff up. I’m pretty cynical, but this is not only evil, it’s also spiteful & makes them look weak.

@sidereal rent control is a fascist policy! It is demanding State control of private activity!

@volkris if this is a joke it isn’t funny or accurate or insightful

@volkris @sidereal

It's based on premises or assumptions that are complete bullshit; essentially the ancap delusional fantasy of capitalism without state, something that has never existed and cannot exist.

There's no need to stretch things. No need to look for any kind of conspiracy theory.

It's simply that, here's a thing, and we can count the number of things that this thing is, it is only one thing, we can count to one, and that's that.

All of these theories that complicate trying to reach some political objective, but no, we can count to one. No need to stretch, we'll count these, and we get to one, and that's the end.

Sometimes simple realities are the way to go.

@volkris @sidereal

I don't know wtf you're talking about and I strongly suspect neither do you.

@RD4Anarchy Yeah that sounds about right, you really don't seem to understand the concept that here's a thing and only one person can have it at one time.

That's the underlying fact behind property. And yes, you don't seem to appreciate it.

The point is, if you can count to one, you can understand property. That is, if a person isn't just too busy trying to use government to force to their advantage.

Your reply is packed with contradictions and falsehoods, I don't know where to start, even if I had time for this, which I don't right now.

Follow

@RD4Anarchy start anywhere!

If my reply is so packed with falsehoods, it shouldn't be hard to start laying them out.

Please! Show me the errors in my ways!

None are so ready to find fault with others as those who do things worthy of blame themselves (as Mark Twain schools us)

You are like a pig begging to learn to sing and blaming others cuz u can't learn

Sealioning all the way: it's tiresome and DEFINITELY someone not worth engaging with

I'd explain to you why what you're saying is fucking stupid, only if you paid me

Cuz I've seen you make bad faith arguments up and down threads for a while now so hold this block.

@volkris @sidereal

To whom it may concern:

The concept of ownership (especially in the context of what we call "real estate": artificial and violently imposed divisions of the planet and biosphere, a whole of which we are all inextricably a part and on which we all depend) is not some sort of natural law or mathematical principle. It is a social construct, and one that is not even universal among human cultures.

As for "...trying to use government to force to their advantage", that's actually a good description of capitalism, which is contrary to the OP and everything I've said.
