Just downloaded an application form for a job. For some that reason I can't fathom, the fields are write protected.

I am not sure why this is, granted I am trying to edit this in LibreOffice 7.x that comes with Debian 11, I also just tried with 7.4, and get the same issue.

Any ideas please

@libreoffice

@zleap Usually that means they want you to print it out and fill it out by hand (and then fax it to them, presumably).

It's also a big red flag that the company runs on arcane rules from the age of yore rather than logic or common sense.

@LouisIngenthron

I need to fill the form out, then log back in to the times education supplement website, and submit it electronically.

They want info such as salary from previous jobs, (I don't keep those records) the also seem to want dates in dd/mm/yyyy for stuff, who remembers the exact date you started somewhere.

I have e-mailed them to ask for help. I am guessing they assume people are either stupid or rich enough to use MSOffice, what ever version they used for this.

Ironically this is a school that is for kids wiuth severe or profound learning disabilities (SPLD or something) so you would think they would understand accessibillty.

Common sense, does not exist, when it comes to managers, some have degrees in stupidity.

I get a problem with other school application forms, where there is a grey section in fields, which ends up being part of what I type.

So the form just looks a mess, not my fault, that my text has a grey background. I guess this has something to do with pressing tab to move between fields.

Should I need a degree in computer science to just fill out a form. ?

@dsfgs @zleap GIMP is a great tool, but it's not exactly what I'd call user-friendly...

@LouisIngenthron @dsfgs

I use gimp for a few things, but do get a few issue.

@dsfgs @GIMP @LouisIngenthron

I will see if the school reply tomorrow, I am not confident.

I am happy to send said form to the @libreoffice dev team. to see if it can help with compatibility

@zleap Hi Paul, see what the school says – but you can always attach it to a bug report at bugs.documentfoundation.org for the QA community to take a look!
