But if you look at what the basic computer courses offer it is very big tech centred, there is no basic courses that cover free software, or decentralised social media, even the tutors are Social media = Facebook, you can contact old school friends ( a postive thing ) no mention of course, of the school bully that make your life hell.
There are people who say don't give smart phones to under 16s, this may sound a good idea, but what about Apps for services such as banking, or gohenry which is designed to track money, rewards, and spending, helping kids become money confident.
Kids understand this stuff better than their parents, so when parents try and explain about e-safety, they may not be that effective or ask the right questions.
To understand when things go wrong ypu need to understand something on a deeper level. e.g cambridge analytica, massive for data protection and yet people just didn't see a connection and just carried on.
Then when it is their kids, who are harmed they sit up and listen, by then it is too late.
