The whole war in Ukraine thing brought many near-forgotten jokes about Russians back to the surface. For example, there's an old Polish joke (I think it's Polish, but it might also exist in other post soviet bloc states) that the characteristics of a special soviet device for shining light in an ass are that it fails to shine and doesn't fit in an ass.
I remember hearing it back in the early 2000s when post-soviet equipment was still being replaced and many people still had some amazing soviet devices such as a washing machine that is worse than washing clothes in a stream and additionally eats half of them, then I haven't heard it for some 20 years and now people are back to throwing it around every time another news of hilarious Russian equipment failures reaches the Internet.
Every time I see a kiosk system with Windows Embedded on it, I lose a little more hope in a sensible IT ecosystem.
For gods sake, it's spinning up an entire window management and composition stack to display a single fullscreen window. And then that window crashes or someone finds a way to escape it, and instead of restarting the whole stack it just sits there showing a Windows desktop and the incompetence of whoever was responsible for adapting it.
And then you go somewhere where half of kiosks aren't working, and it's always Windows Embedded. How are people still using this garbage?
Infighting between conspiracy nuts is hilarious. Today I saw a meme suggesting that the few conspiracy theories that are too stupid even for most conspiracy theorists like flat earth are deliberately planted by "the feds" to avert the public eyes from "the truth". My brother in Christ, if you can't understand the mechanisms that cause your monkey brain to fall for this shit, you aren't any better than the flat earthers, you were just lucky to end up in a slightly less insane environment.
I can 100% tell this was inspired by the goddamn horizontal recordings of vertical tiktoks showing horizontal videos in the middle. It seems that since the advent of personal video recording, every generation has to fight its own battle against vertical videos.
Breaking news from the Ukrainian front: the Russian attempts to slow down the counter-offensive have just been confirmed to be outmatched by a single hedgehog.
