Just a reminder to the Climate Change Deniers. For well over a decade overall arctic ice has been decreasing at rates **faster** than older models originally predicted.

@freemo In Mathematics the modeling of something with as many variables as melting ice is never as straightforward as one would think.
@freemo A Mathematical Modeling of an event should be able to predict the magnitude of the event at any given time interval. This would include the past, present and future.
The Modeling that I do is much different and I was recruited for the purpose.
@AmpBenzScientist If I want to know something about the present or past I dont need a model, I simply need to look at the past or the present.
If someone claims "50% of the ice caps have already melted" (just making up a figure) I dont need a model to confirm that, a model is irrelevant. All I need to do is look at the ice caps and measure how much of it there is.
@freemo More accurate results are obtained through direct measurements. I won't argue against this fact.
@AmpBenzScientist That makes no sense. Models arent used to determine the curreent severity of a problem, theya re used to predict the severity we may expect in the future.
Models have no relevance on understanding that the effects of climate change have **already** been devestating, so no they dont and by their nature cant fail at that task, as that is not their purpose.
This seems to be a position drawn from complete ignorance as to what role models play in science.
