@mcnees
And thanks again! I should be able to track it down.

@samim
One of the first thoughts is always something like "Wow, it's always been like this and I didn't know."

Thanks very much for the link. I've pulled up the article and will have a look at it shortly. I'd seen at least one discussion of the paradox on Sabine Hossenfelder's site some time back, but didn't read it at the time because I was still trying to get a basic handle on particle physics at the time. 🤔

And I noticed that I crave more sugar and fat than I used to. The good news is that stage 4 means I don't care about cholesterol any more-- my monthly blood tests don't even bother to look at that. 😆

@GeekAndDad
Yeah, timing medications is something I had to create a spreadsheet for because it had gotten that complicated. I carry a little pillbox in my watch pocket just in case I happen to be out and about when it's time for something or other. And I use alarms on my smartwatch to remind me what to take when. Being sick is not as simple as some might think.😉

@mcnees
Thank you! I see a dive into basic Wikipedia info in my very near future; cosmology is good stuff! 👍

@drdrowland
Ahh, I had not thought of it that way. That would be an interesting thing to contemplate. Trying to remember what happened when and what my time was worth would be a challenge in itself, though I think I could come up with a crude estimate.

I gave up 15 years on Twitter and 22,000 followers. I used my anniversary to invite others to follow me to Mastodon, and I pointed out that every tweet is a donation to Musk. We know what he is and what he's doing. He gave Michael Flynn his account back on the anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection.

I started my #Twitter exodus as a boycott against Musk. Now, I'm thrilled to be here. I miss a few things, but Mastodon is just built better. I feel like it makes me (and you) better, too.

@KLlewellin @DolphinSeeker
Thanks for the intro! I'll tag along with you and see where we go.

Jellyfish have survived 500 Million years without a brain or a heart so don’t count the Republican Party out just yet.

@mcnees
That's interesting, I didn't know that our sun is not massive enough! What's the approximate amount of mass required?

@drdrowland
What about those of us who are self-taught? My certifications weren't free, but the costs associated with those would be nothing compared to a traditional college education. 😉

I was in the back yard just now and saw a house finch land on the anemometer--- you know, those wind-speed dealies on home weather stations-- and go round and round and round. Lucky for her it was only maybe 80 or 90 rpm at the time and not gusty. It was a good ten seconds before she flew off to find another ride somewhere else (I presume that's what she's doing because that's what I'd do if I were a house finch.)

It was hard to tell what she thought of the experience. Finch faces aren't very expressive.

That may have been the first time I ever laughed out loud at something happening in nature. I hope she wasn't embarrassed!

That's a good point, I was quite disappointed at the time and even more so later when more info came out about their deliberately lackadaisical process. I guess we just have to wait and see. At least it's free entertainment.😉

@lauren
I'd prefer to know more about who on the left side is doing stupid things, so I'd be perfectly okay with an increase in volume on that topic. Not for attack purposes; I'm only a couple of inches away from being a socialist myself, but so I can be prepared to counter stupid things when I happen across them.

No blockage here! I greedily await any observations you might have. 👍

@paulkruczynski
Ah, that's a shame. I much prefer the clever one, and am surprised the hip and modern Guardian wouldn't go for it. Who do they think they are, The Times? 😉
