I designed the 12-bit rainbow palette for use in my data visualisations. It consists of twelve colours chosen with consideration for how we perceive hue, chroma, and luminance. The palette uses a 12-bit colour depth, so each colour requires only four characters when specified as a hexadecimal colour code in a CSS or SVG file. For more details, see iamkate.com/data/12-bit-rainbo

@InternationalBrainLab For folks at #SfN22 we're still at booth 3330 today and tomorrow, talking about the details of this (huge) dataset and showing it off with our VR demo. Come by and chat data or data viz, I'll be at the booth this afternoon!

Everyone has had the , but have you ever thought about why we get them? This week Sophie Liebergall dives into the neuroscience behind several behaviors, like the hiccups, that we may have inherited from our distant ancestors. Read to learn about these interesting behaviors at the intersection of and .

#neuroscience

Let me introduce myself! My name is Ilenna Jones, I am a computational neuroscientist with keen interest on how dendrites contribute to a singular neuron's ability to compute functions and learn tasks. I build biophysical models of neurons in and use principles to investigate how models can learn and compute given their biologically realistic constraints.

I'm looking for postdocs right now! Feel free to connect if you're looking for someone like me!

I'm very interested in helping other students find resources and guidance as they consider science and in general. Feel free to connect if you're looking for advice/perspectives!

#introduction

I'm a Group Leader at HHMI Janelia working at the intersections of #ComputerVision, #MachineLearning, #DataScience, #Neuroscience, #Ethology & #HCI. I use #CV, #ML and tech to gain insight into biology. My most cited work involves animal tracking and behavior analysis. I love algorithms and trying to understand how, when, & why they work. But really I'm an engineer and want to solve problems however I can!

Outside work, I like sunshine, outdoors, #climbing, & #crosswords.

Last minute SfN prep! I've been scrambling to make a visualization of the international brain lab's full dataset, compressed down into one "average trial". I think this draft is in the right direction -- interactive and shows the whole dataset in 3D, but it's missing the context of what the behavioral task looked like.

Come find the lab at SfN!!

Sunday AM poster:

Monday 2:30pm talk, room SDCC 24:

OK I guess I'll do an !

I'm Ethan Blackwood and I'm a PhD student at UPenn with Alex Proekt studying how neuronal population dynamics in the cortex change as animals (mice) adopt new strategies or switch between them when learning a complex (for mice) decision task.

I'm also interested in AI and have done some investigation into the dynamics of RNNs learning to make decisions, although I'm taking a break from that for now. And I've been lucky to do some work on artificial network concept learning with @annaschapiro.

My feelings about are changing day to day - it's definitely different from "the bird site" and requires an adjustment, but I'm excited for the potential!

Online now: the series of Jupyter notebooks we developed for my course 'Foundations of Neural & Cognitive Modelling' (at U Amsterdam), which could double as computational exercises accompagnying @Neurograce 's Models of Mind.

I'm Grace Lindsay. I'm a new Asst. Prof in #Psychology and #DataScience at New York University. I wrote a popular science book on how & why we use #math to study the #brain.

In my research in my lab I hope to model how #attention works in the brain. I'm also separately working on applications of #MachineLearning to #ClimateChange!

Currently seeking guest speakers for our local #GirlsWhoCode club here at Michigan! Speakers are typically #WomenInSTEM who discuss their career paths and take questions from high school students. Presentations are about 10-15 minutes plus time for questions. Club is virtual so anyone can be our guest speaker! DM me if interested! #WomenInScience #Science #ScienceMigration

Hey #neuroscience #neurotech #neurodon

I'm very excited about a truly distributed community for #neuroscience.

Let's make it easier for new folks (and #twitterexodus #twittermigration) folks to plug into the #neurodon community!

Please add your Mastodon information to this importable community list: forms.gle/sWZyxMGsNefy3kzr5

Trying things out. I will be posting mainly #neuroscience. So here is a question. What is the most important thing we need to be able to do to understand the principles on which brains work?

Excited to #introduce myself on #ScienceMastodon

I am a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Complex Systems and Data Science at the University of Vermont.

My research focuses on group-level data ethics, privacy, security, and sovereignty using complex systems and network science methods.

I also work on creating opportunities in open science and open source.
