Anyway a journal editor recently emailed me a rejection that said they "could not find anything encouraging to say" about one of my other preprints-also-in-submission manuscripts lolsob, it takes me 1-3 business years to recover from such things, maybe someday I will have a sabbatical that's just about working through my manuscript backlog
Another recent rejection: I worked for three weeks in the evenings making pages of revisions and turned in a several pages long detailed inventory of changes, line by line documented. The reviewer said they *did not bother to read the new manuscript* but were certain that I *did not make any substantive changes* and that I should be summarily rejected after the revise-and-resubmit because I didn't do all of their changes which *other reviewers disagreed with* (they were methodologically wrong)

"We describe the frequent nesting of non-native European paper wasps (Polistes dominula) at two solar facilities... conducting nest censuses to further investigate population density and nest siting behaviour. Active nests were found to occur at a density of 10–23 per hectare of solar facility, and paper wasps had a preference for nesting in sheltered metal torque tubes compared with the more exposed undersides of photovoltaic panels."
