Obviously you also need some axioms and some basic theorems. That's why geometry is usually used. The axioms and theorems are not too abstract.
Yay, got the first post in a thread to display!! But this is an important thread and I'm looking at you, the "not strong on math" people. It's the reasoning that's important here even if you've never fancied yourself to be a mathematician when you grow up. You still need analytical thinking to go with everything else that you DO want to do.
