@freemo oh ok that makes sense. What’s it like running a server?
@Co depends on your level of expiernce. I coded mine up to be almost effortless to manage. I think for most it would be a great deal of work though
@freemo what language is yours in?
@Co its many different components in different languages.. shell script, docker, docker-compose are the three main frameworks that bring it all together. I am using docker swarm to manage the systems and docker-machine to bring instances up as needed.
@freemo do you say I should learn docker stuff.... I already know a good bit a of shell (I use arch so I hopefully should know some at least)
@Co If you do any level of system admining or programming I'd highly recommend it, yes.
@Co I dont know but it isnt based on accounts. the server stores all the federated data from all servers it sees (as do all mastodon servers).. so its literally a copy of the entire fediverse (or near to it) since the server came up.
