Finished my 150% scaled Crow T Robot. Now he's finally big enough to keep company to Tom Servo!
Okay, I need your help!
I am finalising my PhD thesis at the moment, and it is "tradition" to have a quote at the beginning of each chapter. Now I want to be difficult: I want quotes from FEMALE astronomers / scientists talking about astronomy.
Shoot me your favourites pls

I promised myself a while back that I wouldn't write any more #ImageJ Macro code. When I made this promise I forgot about all the scripts that we have in use. “Oh, this one just needs a few tweaks and then it can be used in another project." And here I am again in ijm hell!
Today NASA is closing their Office of the Chief Scientist and Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy and also their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility branch.
It's a great time to remind your learning community of the incredible achievements of the Black women mathematicians in the 1960's space program that successfully put a man on the Moon. Yes, we're talking about Disney's Hidden Figures.
We offer a Hidden Figures discussion guide that's great for public screenings and low-key classroom use. We also offer classroom-ready lesson plans, across the curriculum, for grades 9-12.
Like all our materials, these guides are free for everyone. Get yours now.

Still time* to apply for this PhD position in my group. 4 years fully funded position (home fees only, I am afraid) to identify the genetic and environmental causes of complex human diseases. A fantastic training opportunity for a candidate interested in acquiring skills in data science and clinical data analysis.
* Edited because I thought March already passed, somehow. Deadline is on the 15th of April!

I'm going to start calling this mapleturfing. Fuck US goods pretending to be Canadian.
Campbells' soup sold in Canada now has a maple leaf on the label. Their website has had a maple leaf next to their logo since October 2023.
Screenshot of "prepared in Canada" label here:

Campbell's has not had Canadian manufacturing since 2018 when they shut down their last Canadian plant.

PhD in Cell Biology
I am a Research Scientist and lab manager for the Tootle lab in the Biology department at the University of Iowa. We use Drosophila oogenesis to understand the mechanisms regulating prostaglandin production and function. My particular interest is the developmental roles of lipid droplets and their connection to prostaglandins.
I love biology and teaching people about what is happening in cells. I also am really interested in microscopy.
I also like cats, horses and horseback riding, fish keeping (I have two aquariums), video games-particularly the Half-Life franchise and Half Life mods, and I have recently gotten into VR (NOT META!) so if you want to chat about any of these topics that would be great!
