@gabington@nerdculture.de maybe your soul is on the wrong hemisphere ;-) I’ve just started mittens too, but it’s nearly winter here ;-)

@naturesketchbook as a fellow artist also balancing my life between creative, fatigue and houseplants, your toot stood out for me 😊
Love my carnies 😊

Since some of you asked: my illustrations are mostly done in watercolor and colored pencil, and for these detailed scientific paintings I often use references like photos.

I also love to keep a sketchbook and field sketching, I find it is so valuable to explore nature directly, and record my everyday observations in one place. This in turn helps me again with scientific details.

Below are a few sketchbook outtakes.

I am going to try to find time this weekend to add in several new features to QOTO, fix a few small bugs, and if we aare REALLY lucky and things go well I might release a new version of QOTO this weekend (no promises though my life is CRAZY right now, hard to predict).

If you see this toot (yeah this one right here), can you boost it for me? It will help my new server federate with the wider Mastodon network. 🚀 🙏

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social likewise!

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social oh similar thought process indeed! 😍 wonderful.
These are the good sides of any social media with all its flaws; a linking of thoughts across the globe with a total stranger . Goosebumps 😊

Does anyone know about ? The scars limpets make over time to create a better seal when it is low tide. The scar grows while the limpet grows and takes its shape. After the limpet forages for food it returns to their home. The repeated purposeful action reminded me of human pilgrimages where things touched over and over and over. Does the worn down granite steppingstone that fits a foot perfectly in any way resemble the scar? Or the shiny toe of a statue of a saint…?

Just slowly filling my mastospace with some of my work

A painting of a sunset near Leeds U.K.
The painting is gone to live at its final wall destination. It was part of a little exhibition, in a space we’re locally very proud of; Teggs Nose Gallery, in the Tearoom in Teggs Nose park Cheshire U.K.

@badbirch oh my god, I’ll never learn😅. So far I seem to not be allowed to interact (favor or toot or see toots even) when I enter through the Amaroq app. But if I login through the link in the email and I view it browser style I am allowed to interact everywhere 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

@badbirch thank you so much! You’d think with the bazillions of images available at a click, it would be easier. But sometimes photo’s just need to click 😊

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social couldn’t tag you in the post itself

So; a throwback piece of uni work (20 years ago)
Inspired by a species of woodworm. A hand bound book with prints from the branch, and a handful of unusable woodworm stamps
(bark beetle - Hylesinus fraxini)
A different species is called Boekdrukker in Dutch (book printer) which is what inspired this little work.

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social I found your slices in a very convoluted way but your username is different there; rico? Maybe that’s the same as my login issue with mastodon social … aaaarch. Thanks for talking back to me anyway 😁👍🏼

Question for anyone with mastodon knowledge.
After my 2 year hiatus I managed to log in in this qoto. Did a password change, all good. But if I try to look at mastodon.social it says password incorrect. Does every instance use its own password? I’m so confused. When I change it back to qoto the password works fine.
Is this a very obvious new user mistake I’m not getting? Use small words and short sentences please 🤣🤣

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social oh I can’t see it anywhere 🧐 maybe that’s one of those mastodon instance enigmas? Massive learning curve.
I’ll see if I can take a picture in the studio this afternoon. Years ago we didn’t photo document stuff as much as we should I suppose 🤣

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social I made a “book” and non functional “stamps” (art piece) many years ago with the same woodworm patterns. They are forever fascinating.

@pixelsapoppin@mastodon.social ha no worries , I had a hiccup with the follow button when I first joined, it seems it needs time to reset if you accidentally follow/unfollow a few times in a row (or at least that was my theory)

After a couple of days on #Mastodon I’m very impressed & excited to be part of this growing community! #mastodonmigration

My only humble suggestion is that it needs more #tardigrades aka "water bears."

Tardigrades have survived every mass #extinction on Earth since they evolved about a 1/2 billion years ago. There are ~1,300 known species. And millions of years from now, they won’t even notice we’re gone.
