@piggo I am sure it has nothing to do with the game, but the cover certainly looks like a screenshot from that piece. I'd be surprised if the designer was not "influenced". Interesting co-incidence.

@piggo The game came out 2014. The look and feel of that cover is quite the same. Is it that new?

ukraine war videos

@piggo indeed, weird questions and things one has in mind after seeing that. For instance:
- if the alternative weapon was artillery and they'd use 20 shells to deliver the same damage, would it be perhaps a better option? cheaper? Or more humane?
- seeing such cruelty a year ago would disturb me hugely. Now, after 11 months of watching these things and realising what it means for my own life, I don't even blink much - or perhaps wonder like you about the economy of all this. What does that even tell about me as a decent human being? (at least I fancy to consider myself one)

And so on. What a different world we live now... I never considered myself a pacifist, but I also never before thought I will feel certain satisfaction in some moments of a/this war. Yet I do. It changed many of us I suppose...

@piggo the label probably warrants 20% higher price.

@pony If this makes you feel uneasy, I guess you wouldn't like to play Monument Valley (krasamo.com/game-design-inspir) 🙂 - I admire and like that game a lot. Those screenshots came to my mind immediately when I saw the picture.

Anyway, I get what you mean. Could it be that you don't have mainstream tastes and emotional reactions? But then again, what do I know... Maybe most people indeed cringe when they see that setting. I don't. I'd call it "interesting" - as @piggo did too.

@pony you are thinking too much about it. Sure you are right when you start to dissect it. For others it's colours, textures, lights, etc. What other see are things like "royal space" --> luxury, "dimmed lights" --> cozy, "old architecture" --> conservative, upper-class and serious, those who recognise the space, or know it otherwise perhaps think "ours, national, us", etc. All the right keywords and branding for a president. What can you want more?

@piggo

@pony it's a matter of subjective judgement/preference. I see how this setting looks attractive an upper-class to many, if perhaps not the majority of tv viewers.

@omarmung

👍 - not the pen, but the content of your notebook. Led to some good reading on music composition. Thanks!

@joeycastillo

@pony Train simulator, I gather. I remain forever surprised what sorts of things people play and spend time with. I mean, no jokes, my kids play also bus simulator, I just don't get it. Maybe I should give it a try, or something... Maybe I am seriously getting into the old fart territory...

@piggo wrong business reaction there. you should have said "yes sir, lemme look at it!" and come back in 2 weeks with a "solution" plus a juicy invoice. Easy money there... And they'd be over the moon how quick you are and what great customer care you have. I.e., small but important contribution to the potential for raising prices the next time.

@pony hitting a star to such a message does not feel right. There's probably little somebody like I could do to alleviate the condition, but I wish you best and want to express support. Take care!

@pony I am not going to argue about what you think or not, it's not necessary, nor do I think me or you care that deeply.

My comment was in a broader context of me observing this election campaign from far away and seeing that many respectful people suddenly have no problem to publicly express their open dislike for their neighbouring country and its society, or use either open, or veiled nationalistic rhetoric just because it's easy and convenient - as you also pointed out in your original post. As I said, that's nothing new or weird in the current European context, but I find it somewhat amusing for a society where a significant portion of intellectual elites prides (prided?) themselves with strong humanist and democratic heritage from Masaryk to Havel. Such statements, even if we agree that they are not exactly harmful, are still in a strong contrast with those national myths. I guess we agree that besides being useless, such statements certainly do not improve relations with the other side - rather the contrary. And that is what I putting my finger on.
