This cartoon hits hard.
It hits even harder when you notice the 2007 publication date in the lower right corner.

These things simply take time and there is no way around it. Therein lie 2 good messages:
* we'll figure it out (as humankind)
* don't lose hope. Every little bit helps (and not everyone has to be a environmentalist for that).
Every generation thinks they'll sort it out with a magic turn of their hand. Patience!
@piggo There are good things among all the fluff. Best is to get recommendations from friends. Otherwise it's just browsing old crap, or being lost in a sea of new non-descript pics.
@DrLinguo @academiamemes These days I hear sales people speaking like this.
@pony I know. And it brings back the cozy 1st republic feel too. All-round win. What is missing is to only get an opportunity to drop in "pane rado!"
@pony Rhymes with purple rain (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edDiY323768). Somebody shall produce a cover.
@pony Outrageous!
@mathias Also look at the upside: you don't get stressed of buying presents several times a year. You can manage all that, together with all the Christmas in one go. I call that a win!
@piggo What a monster.
Congratulations there!
Where I live, on a person's birthday, people congratulate their family members. I like the habit: after all, it deserves a recognition that one managed to survive all that time along the "birthday child" :-). Especially when the birthday child is a teenager 😄
P.S.
I see it's not for nothing people say that May is the month of love 😉 .
@piggo theories, yada, yada, yada. Try to go without for a couple of years and then you'll see how you miss it. Or not - but you'll never really know until you really try.
Ascetic life sounds theoretically appealing, but in practice it's not a thing for the vast majority of us.
You like good food, I gather. Think about Christmas as a food for soul :-) - bah! am I getting pathetic... whatever...
@piggo don't be cynical.
Exploring, failing, backtracking, just to identify the only viable path forward. And then scarred, stumbling forward into the future. Learning.
Boring and steady. Knowing little and questioning a lot. Mostly harmless.

This is an experimental scrapbook space. A collection of stuff I want to keep in a form somewhere on the spectrum between a blog and a shoe-box full of scraps, cut-outs, quotes, links and reading notes and sometimes my own silly thoughts about them.
Perhaps it might be of marginal interest to others too, but I don't care that much.
