A Moral Rating Agency report shows that there are plenty of well-known corporations still in #Russia. Some have not moved out at all, while others have decided to quit some activities but not others.
I am a computational chemist studying biomolecular chemistry and photochemistry. I really enjoy working on problems related to the origins of life and prebiotic chemistry. My most recent research articles focused on the photostability and photochemistry of RNA/DNA building blocks and precursors, electron transfer properties of DNA/RNA, as well as self-repair of DNA lesions. See for example:
Nudge theory in action. £20 Waterstones Christmas gift card burning a hole in my pocket no longer. #mosstodon and #sporespondence definitely had an influence with these two ‘impulse’ buys today.

If an estimated 360 million glasses of champagne or sparkling wine are consumed on New Year’s Eve, how many bubbles would they release? For #ScienceSunday, let’s turn to physics for the answer. 🧵
It’s a Gas! Did you know that an uncorked bottle of champagne can release 6 times its volume of CO2! This gas is generated in a 2nd fermentation by adding sugar and yeast to blended wine. The sugar breaks down to ethanol (alcohol) and carbon dioxide. C6H12O6 —> 2C2H5OH + 2CO2

Here's my hello world tweet for the mastoverse! Hoping to connect on #sotl #highered pedagogy, #learningdesign, #writing, & #books. More about me here: https://www.jenaecohn.net
I thought it might be time for #introductions again.
I teach high school biology, anatomy, science research, and I teach and mentor future science teachers at the University of Colorado. I also bike, hike, run, swim, bird husband, parent, and walk and run with a dog named Ida. I occasionally blog at mrdrscienceteacher.wordpress.c...

This is the post that blocked on c.im for being *about* racism.
It's a really nice post, relatable. Ironically enough it's about how one can feel left out-- even when those making it happen might not be aware of what they are doing.
This isn't the first time this kind of misguided block has occurred on this server.
Check your friends and let them know, it's just not a place where this is welcome.
(I reached out to the admin, no response.)
This should be interesting for #FrontRange #Colorado #AirQuality research. I wonder if the improvement will be significant.
Anyone know which charts and data to watch?

> Motorists in Colorado should get ready to pay more at the pump after Suncor Energy announced this week it would shut down its Commerce City oil refinery for as long as three months due to equipment being damaged at the sprawling facility by last week’s “extreme and record-setting weather.”
In schools, we teach science through the lens of single subjects - biology, chemistry & physics - but it’s the ways they interact with economics, psychology & more that shape our world.
Ultimately, science is related to every significant challenge we face. It’s written into the agricultural policies that sustain us. It ensures we have clean drinking water & enough energy to keep the lights on. At is core, #science is fundamental to our health, safety & future. https://sheril.substack.com/p/a-dissertation-on-democracy
The Santos/fraud situation is bad news for journalism on two grounds, but the Washington Post noticed only one of them.
The Post's coverage highlight's Big Journalism's utter failure to do its job in a timely way even when a smaller news org had blown the whistle on some of Santos' lies weeks before the election.

Today is the anniversary of the largest mass shooting in American history, Wounded Knee, a massacre on December 29, 1890 that has been relegated to history as a "battle".
As Southwest CEO Bob Jordan pretends to apologize—remember—SW got a $7B federal bailout, spent $5.6B of that on Stock Buybacks, gave their CEO a raise to $9.1M, & forced frontline workers into 16 hour shifts under threat of termination—while spending $0 updating SW software😳
Southwest’s debacle isn’t an accident. It’s the predictable result of billionaire & corporate corruption & greed—& thousands of workers & travelers are paying the price.
In a just world SW execs will face criminal charges.
It's about time! This is the best news for the new year.

The waxing, setting moon tonight not long after sunset. When it's this close to new, it tends to get this "earthshine" that allows the viewer to see the dark of the moon. @kimmnunez
I am furious. For 10 days, Lakota Sioux have been snowed in and trapped in South/North Dakota. I just now heard about this. People are dying. Many have no heat, they can’t get food or fuel. They are burning clothes.
In America. In 2022. The National Guard was called out, *finally*. Unconscionable.

As a human rights lawyer who has done extensive immigration work, let me make something absolutely clear.
Asylum is legal immigration.
There's no "port of entry" requirement.
There's no "visa" requirement.
There's no "first country" requirement.
You enter the United States, and you apply for asylum.
Because asylum is legal immigration. Period.
Period.
