If you ever wanted a visual to explain how binary in works.

Hang in there Stacy, that sounds rough. Sending good thoughts yours and your Mom’s way

Sometimes I forget this fantastic moment existed, then I find these images again and am filled with whimsy :blobcatbounce:

The Supreme Court made up a fairy tale and used it to deny services to gay couples. What will the Supreme Court make up next? I don't know, but I know what the bigots will try to do next.

The internet is not so different from the television set, Laurel. If you don't like what's on, change the channel rather than yelling at the tube.

Me: Can I be denied landscaping services because I'm black? What if I want my hedges to look like chess pieces?
Gorsuch: Well, Should I be forced to give you a blue heffawoozle if my Aryant only allows for red gobknockles?
Me: What?
Gorsuch: Exactly, petition denied, darkie.

4th of July cupcake from my daughter. Her pandemic hobby has really taken off.

Going to try to rededicate to this site because birdsite sucks.

Have a lot of thoughts about that, might post about them later.

In the meantime, as penance for my inactivity, I have dog pictures.

Periodic reminder:

Marginalized people don't owe you shit.

Let them find joy in twerking in public at 4 am if they want to.

Let them laugh about stupid memes and spinning their skirts.

Let them post thirst traps even if you think it's kinda cringe.

Let them talk in uwu and wear fursuits.

Let them use neopronouns and have a gender that takes 2000 words to describe.

Let them wear their leather to Pride, or dress in exaggerated drag or dress in outfits that most people their age don't wear.

We're in a boiling world, in an end stage capitalist christofascist hellscape, and the forces who hate us ain't going to care how much we try to conform: they want us dead.

If you think less of someone because they're finding joy in an utterly harmless activity, that says far more about how you're a pathetic piece of shit than it does about them.

I think I’m mostly reacting to your use of the word “worth” (and probably even more viscerally to the word “deserve” in your original posts). I feel like your average paramedic has more worth to society than your average CEO but that’s a statement of my values and is completely subjective and I’m absolutely willing to believe that I’m misunderstanding your use of the word.

Is there a pharma CEO that contributes more to the well being of society than the worlds best paramedic? Probably. Does capitalism generally raise the world’s standard of living? I’d say so. Does that mean that Jeff Bezos “deserves” to be billionaire while running a company that treats its delivery and warehouse workers like disposable cogs? I don’t think so

As a volunteer EMT I feel like I’m making more of a contribution society for free than I do in my day job as a programmer where I’m well paid.

Apparently it’s for terminating a MICC cable (which I’ve never heard of, learn something new everyday)

You’re earning what someone can get away with paying you.

It isn’t about what you “deserve” or about what you’re “worth”, it’s an exercise in maximizing the amount of money that flows up to the top.

There’s no way that you’re average CEO contributes more to society than your (to pick some random professions) average paramedic or nurse does.

You could argue that unfettered capitalism is the least worst system we know of but I’d say even in that framework there’s a hell of a lot of room for improvement.

"I am guessing she was on stage for 1.5-2 hours a night. If you've seen her live performances you'll note that she is dancing and singing and PLAYING THE FLUTE in all of these songs.

I, deemed average BMI by Science, can barely dance through one Lizzo song, let alone keep it up for multiple hours. And I run 3 miles three times a week. So the next time you hear someone opine that Lizzo is normalizing obesity, know that this is simply more fat-phobia disguised as health concerns.” #lizzo #health

I absolutely adore the whimsical #art of 3D sidewalk chalk artist David Zinn. zinnart.com

Zinn creates delightful “works of ephemeral pareidolic anamorphosis” inspired by weeds, sewer covers, traffic cones & nearly everything he encounters around his Ann Arbor community.
