Ok. This is undoubtedly a stupid and naïve question. But is there no compromise candidate the more moderate #Republicans could put up for #Speaker instead? One who might pull a dozen or more votes from conservative or centrist #Democrats? I know. I’m being silly. But surely this process is even sillier? I’m just a Canadian senator. I need an #American guide on this. #Congress #McCarthy #GOP

Oh. A few mins into today's ride came across a person writhing in the middle of an intersection. Motorists honking at them. I entered the intersection and tried to help them off the road but they refused. I called 211, the city's crisis hotline. Recording said they had a higher than normal call volume then I was disconnected. But the cops who won't assist in these types of situations got 50 million slapped onto their 1.1 billion budget. DeSantis insisted it was a "false narrative" and the bill only prohibited "sexual instruction" targeting young students

To everyone who is thinking, "Dammit! We can't catch a break with this damn disease" because of XBB.1.5, I would like to say: there will be no breaks.

If you want COVID incidence to decline, you must do something.
Only policy will make this durably better. Hope is not a policy.

One thing I like about Mastodon: no one has a bio upper-casing their tendency to ‘TELL IT LIKE IT IS’ even if it means they have to ‘RUFFLE FEATHERS’, both of which, as we know, are code for ‘MASSIVE ARSEHOLE’.

I cannot keep this to myself. There is a website (radio.garden) where you can listen to radio stations all over the world for free. No log in. No email address. Nothing.

When the site loads, you are looking at the globe. Slide the little white circle over the green dots (each green dot is a radio station) until you find one you like.

I have been listening to this station in the Netherlands and it absolutely slaps. I have no idea what they're saying but the music is fantastic.
