Today is a wonderful day in #Alberta ...
It's baby-name-data day! 🥳
The province just released info on all the names given to babies born in 2022.
I built a little web app for those who *really* want to nerd out on baby-name trends over the past 42 years:

I love this image about #books and #libraries — and silly policies about restricting books to a kid's supposed #reading level. Shared with permission.

🤦 Phone poll happening this evening in #Toronto: "Do you feel John Tory is making the right decision by resigning as mayor of Toronto, or should he remain in office?"
Tory's presence leaves a leadership vacuum too. What's your point? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-john-tory-resignation-toronto-mayoral-candidates/

One of the only corps actually named in this story, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd, received $100M in federal public funding for oil well cleanup.
I guess that wasn't enough because CNRL is one of the companies slated to receive even more in DaniSmith's plan to have the people of Alberta also pay to clean up old oil&gas wells that the oil&gas companies are already legally obligated to clean up.
CNRL gross profits in 2021: $15.4B
And they have a tax haven subsidiary in Delaware.
I'm amused/terrified by the bizarre parallel upside down world this Fox article lives in. https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/elon-musk-100-days-continues-fix-social-media-platform-improved-twitter-experience
#Ottawa mayor: " You know that LRT fiasco public private partnership? Yeah, more of that." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/city-of-ottawa-service-reviews-2023-1.6744831
Multibillion-dollar oil corporations in Alberta will have $100 million of their royalty payments forgiven to compensate them for cleaning up old wells they’re already legally obligated to clean up.
