In #Norfolk I sometimes wonder if our news is already generated by AI…we call it Chat EDP:

I can’t think of a more fitting way to recognize #Earthday than with the photo of our planet taken on Apollo 11. It was breathtaking view to be sure, but also a poignant reminder of all that we must do to responsibly advance as a species. For now, it remains our only home.

Former Liberal MP and Minister of Innovstion, Science, and Industry - y’know the guy that was supposed to keep our cell phone bills down - just took a cushy job at Rogers….

I don't know why this hasn't received more publicity, but this fifty-foot sculpture was unveiled recently in South Dakota.
It's called 'Dignity' and was done by artist Dale Lamphere to honor the women of the Sioux Nation.

It’s amazing to me that a significant number of Canadians have a problem with the idea of a media company owned by us - Canadian citizens - and that they are appalled at the (untrue) allegations that the CBC is swayed by the government that we - the citizens of Canada - elected.

Meanwhile, these same folks are completely unfazed that almost every single other media outlet is owned, controlled, and directed by a handful of rich white guys who don’t even live in our country.

Elon Musk lost $13 billion in 24 hours on Thursday, and he’s still the world’s second richest person

Don't tell me billionaires can't afford a wealth tax.

"Good work Geordie on fixing the Enterprise."
"All I did was tell the robots, holograms, and robot holograms to fix it and they fixed it. Don't thank me, thank the Amalgamated Union of Robots, Holograms, and Robot Holograms."

Once again, I'm reminded of how much the billionaire space race has absolutely destroyed my love of rockets.

10 years ago, I definitely would have been paying close attention to the current giant SpaceX launch. But because I know it's going to be used to launch hundreds of unregulated, unsafe, polluting, for-profit Starlink satellites at once, I just can't look.

Instead of being excited and awestruck by a new gigantic rocket launch, it just makes me want to puke.

Pierre asked for foreign interference and Elon delivered.

Every study ever: Overworked employees are less productive. Employees who work from home are just as productive as employees who work in the office. The evidence is indisputable.

Managers: I see. But I have a hunch that the complete opposite is true.

This is good, but instead of a pause why not make it a permanent end? Could public broadcasters not set up their own Mastaodon instance, and use that instead? cbc.ca/news/world/cbc-twitter-

Messenger RNA #vaccines aren't just for COVID anymore.

The vaccine technology America learned about during the pandemic was originally aimed at cancer, but its use against infectious diseases took off in the pandemic. Now a new study suggests specially designed mRNA shots can help prevent recurrences of #melanoma, a dreaded skin #cancer#health

Taxes are a fee you pay to live in society. Once you pay those taxes, you don’t get a direct say in their use because it’s no longer your money.

You get an indirect say in their use by voting for a representative who will then exercise their duty to make that decision for you.

No, grasshoppers, you are not better positioned to know how that money should be used.

I admit that sometimes I look at the Twitter before I come here because it makes Mastadon more refreshing. It’s like wandering through a sunny meadow after walking through a sewage plant.

My (dormant) Twitter account is so unimportant that it still has a blue check I don't pay for (and never will)...

#Ontario voices 🥴

"In Ontario, 18% of the electorate
managed to elect a
merchant-fascist, dictatorial,
#Conservative majority government.

Doug Ford has defined his merchant-fascist govt
as a govt for the ‘real people’.
Who are the ‘real people’?
The ‘real people’ are merchants
and who think like merchants.

Everything is for sale.
Everything is privatized.
No non-profits.
No charities.
No kindness.
Everything is cash and carry."

Julian Sanchez wrote about this way way back in 2009, another excellent piece here sparked by the Tea Party craziness. Now we see what the Tea Party has become.

Unf., MAGA is indeed "willing to go the Pol Pot route."
