“John Tory is no longer mayor. We’re no longer under any obligation to build monuments to him. We’re under an obligation to build transit that works,” says Councillor Gord Perks on his motion to halt SmartTrack negotiations until province provides a better overall transit deal.
When companies say things like "if you are not in the office three days a week we will penalize you at performance review time" they are inherently contradicting their own claims that remote work results in reduced productivity.
If remote work were bad, you wouldn't need to add an artificial penalty for working remotely, it would show up IN the performance data.
If you have to threaten people with artificially lowered performance scores for not coming into the office, you are admitting that performance has nothing to do with RTO.
THIS IS WHY: Don't have a Doctor? Crowded classrooms? Homeless numbers exploding? Infrastructure crumbling? It's called "Hoarding"...

The Ford #Conservative govt will only be paying for about 13% of the cost of five new “SmartTrack” stations, which they will then own outright.
👉 [Toronto] "should not be paying the province $1.5 billion (and counting as costs go up) to build GO stations within Toronto just to call them "SmartTrack." John Tory is gone, his vanity project should go with him. #Toronto has a fiscal crisis, and #Ontario should pay for their own GO stations."

This morning I was trying to find information about the relative safety of different space heater designs, and 95% of the results were long, rambly bullshit posts written by Jim Smith the Extremely Real Engineer Man for AllAboutSpaceHeaters.com and filled with Amazon affiliate links.
Wow, AI is going great. I can't wait to see how this amazing technology will help humanity next.
The Ford government took billions out of healthcare workers' pockets to put it in a contingency fund probably designed partly to benefit cronies. #Kleptocracy

@shoq I feel like maybe 10% of my tweets were ever read by more than a handful of people (even pre-Musk).
If I ever check my Twitter feed (which is almost never nowadays) it is the same people with largish follower counts saying the same stuff... most of them only got that many followers by being in the right place at the right time, not because they say anything particularly interesting.
Mastodon is not perfect, but at least it feels like people are genuinely trying to connect here.

Oh wow. Jake Tapper just directed CNN control room to get rid of #Trump's visit to cafe after arraignment: "I don't need to see any more of that. He's trying to turn it into a spectacle..Enough of that. We've seen it already." This is good. More plz.
AND Nicolle Wallace also did same on MSNBC. This is good & media should do this from now on. Don't give Trump attention he desperately craves & wants. There are much better things to show than Trump trying to celebrate this moment
Want to read something that is SO difficult that even high-ranking Republicans and Fox "News" pundits cannot grasp it?
It's about how the DOJ pulled its punches on Trump.

@gemelliz Trying to remember what Doug's platform ever was, other than vague "efficiencies". And yet he was elected twice.
I really wish media would stop writing articles like this without saying: “The federal government has nothing to do with housing permits, so this is a completely ridiculous promise.” https://globalnews.ca/video/9757501/poilievre-says-hed-remove-red-tape-on-housing-permits-if-elected-prime-minister
