Artificial “intelligence”: years of research, billions of dollars, can’t figure out how many wings a goose should have.

Trump voters weren't "duped." They knew he lied tens of thousands of times while in office. They knew he was an adjudicated rapist. They knew he bankrupted businesses and ripped off employees and vendors. They knew he was a convicted felon. They knew he stole and mishandled classified documents.

Stop treating MAGA like victims. We can welcome their change of heart, but they knew what they were voting for--they just thought only the people they hated would be harmed.

When watching SciFi series like Babylon 5 in the past I always thought it was a little unrealistic how obvious these fascists were.

Looking at the US today I realise that this isn't unrealistic at all. These people aren't subtle. They don't have to be, because enough people, who'd otherwise agree this was wrong if it happened elsewhere or at another time, will go to great lengths to convince themselves this is fine and it doesn't affect them.

My heroes this week are the people of Vermont, who knew that J. D. Vance was coming up for skiing, and everywhere he went, he was greeted by signs like this one.

"Somehow, in the war between Russia and Ukraine, the first country to surrender was America."

British PM Starmer hugged Zelenskyy. That’s how bad U.S. foreign policy has gotten—it’s driving the Brits to physical displays of emotion.

"The Liberal Party exists because the elites know that there is a huge appetite for progressive policies. The Liberals' job is to capture the votes of people who want change, then make sure that it doesn't happen.
As a bonus, this also undermines public confidence that change is even possible."

10/ "The once-feared clout of the Gambinos and U.S. organized crime died with him. It’s hard not to imagine that Trump could face a similar future, but only after the corpses of civil rights, diversity, democracy and any last pretense to moral world leadership are pulled from the meat hooks and blood-splattered front seats of the American wastelands."

I can't be the only person who is astounded by the marvel of creation. The way cells divide and form into a human. With thought and action and feeling. Just stuck on a rock hurtling through the vast emptiness of space. Trapped in an endless cycle around our star. Growing and building and inventing and evolving. Food and art and music and poetry and love. And what do we do with that? War and greed and taxes and hierarchy. It's really deeply mad. From this perspective all of existence is illogical and insane. How one is supposed to remain tethered knowing this is a mystery unknown to me. Make sure you pay your fealties to people who don't need it! Otherwise to prison with you! What?!

Do the eligible voters in the US who didn't vote for Kamala Harris realize how much they fucked up?

Perfect!

In Wyoming, the legislature has decided, that you cannot require others to address you by your preferred pronouns — thinking that this will only hurt trans people, Trump wants to persecute.

So citizen Britt Boril calls in to a committee meeting and deliberately misgenders the male chairman as madam, which he takes offence to — because our rule about allowing disrespect was not meant to be used against us!

(And no, you should never misgenders others, but damn… this move was brilliant)
