Year 3 of the pandemic and we still don't have one integrated app/website/number where we can:
- View COVID rates in our area
- Find a vaccine site
- Order free rapid tests and N95 masks
- Report rapid test results
- Order treatments
- Check air quality
What are we doing?
Today in 1891, James Naismith from Almonte, Ontario invents basketball and its original 13 rules. At the time, he is working in Springfield, Mass. as a physical educator. He is asked to create a game that can be played indoors and isn't too tame, but not too rough.
"Twitter Inc. has suspended an account on its platform that tracked the private jet of Elon Musk, the social-media giant’s new owner."
Twitter is considering forcing users to let the company sell their data and phone numbers to advertisers, in potential breach of #Apple rules
#Twitter is working on plans to force some users to agree to data sharing or lose access to the app in a bid to save its ad business, according to Platformer.
Elon #Musk's platform, like #Google and #Facebook, currently allows users to opt out of personalized ads, but this option could soon disappear.

It is surreal. Everywhere.
Not only at the pharmacy, but I'm overhearing unmasked parents in the schoolyard lamenting about their kid's endless illnesses, and then agreeing it is perfectly fine to send those same kids back to school UNMASKED.
Even those kids who are still *coughing up a lung* as they trail outside barking and hacking all over everyone else.

Let's celebrate the season with a bit of science! Starting a daily countdown of 10 modern and fascinating ideas about the brain for us all to discuss. How likely is this to be true? And if true, what are the implications?
Brain idea 10: Our moods may depend not just on what's happening in our brain, but also our gut. The gist of the idea is that the gut can send distress signals to the brain that can trigger fear and anxiety.

Some of you will know that there are character codes which are magic, For example, 8 is backspace, 9 is tab, 13 is enter/return, 27 is escape.
And then there's 127, which is delete. Why?
Because if you're dealing with punched cards, you need to remove errors. And the only code which will work for cancelling out a column is all holes punched, since you can't un-punch a hole
And 127 in binary is `01111111`.
@thomasfuchs I think scepticism of crypto comes from a good understanding of it.
