@fuzzface @Alice , google search "naked fat guy" images, and I am #34. Make sure safe search is off.

Ya, I am a sapiosexual, and a straight male. So I REALLY need a lot of women to get into STEM programs.

@talia_christine If I had such tendencies, it would be Rutherford for me.

@ShadSterling @llewelly @futurebird I am trying to point out the measurement issues, which do exist in very small energy photons, and I believe the same could exist in very high energy ones as well. It has been 30 years since my quantum mechanics class, so my language is clunky at best, and also probably misstated.

@freemo @niclas It's old anyway. from 2000. Not really worth reading, although I am...

@freemo @niclas Not a lot of current papers on the topic, but some papers have reported up to 40% effect by the sun's activity. The problem with this is it looks like that number doesn't take into account the 'solar constant' which has been changing since 1978, when we started to really study that number. THAT number has been FALLING, which would drive massive global cooling. So, unless the human factors are WAY more than measured, that claim is highly doubtful.

@llewelly @futurebird , I'm going to guess that quantum graininess is going to prohibit a photon of that energy level. It is well outside anything we could currently even measure, let alone generate. I may be wrong, and graininess only applies to the lower end of photon energy though.

@freemo @niclas , agreed. The best numbers I have seen say it is roughly 1%. And 100% outside of our control, while the rest of the drivers are mostly in our control.

@niclas @freemo , I have actually read some nutters make the claim that climate change is caused by the sun. Most of those folks own or want to own F350 trucks...

@dangillmor , the FBI investigates child abuse. I hope they are looking into this, but since the director is a GQPer, I doubt it.

@freemo @weezmgk , watching this stuff makes me excited. And there is so much out there in the world to watch. Not just this, but new tech, ants, art.... everything. Even the new heat wave is exciting....

There was a Star Trek episode where Spock hears the last dying thoughts of 1000 vulcans... and they all thought "Fascinating". Ya, this is just sunspots, and might cause static in a Hulu download, but it is all fascinating. I hope that is my last thought.
