I don’t think Mastodon is any more confusing than setting up an email account, you pick a server, then you sign up. It is a bit like email in that a person’s username includes the server name… I think the email analogy helps people understand it.

@inkeduprunner only part of the way there for me. Purged Twitter. Very close on Instagram. Too many of my old college friends on FB… but I have the privacy settings tightened down there a lot and I turned off all notifications. Doesn’t protect me from FB but at least it’s something.

It is remarkable how many people think it is an intrinsically costly process to publish #OpenAccess articles.
It is not.
Publishing in traditional journals is expensive only because the profits made are huge. The actual cost is minimal.

Almost 24 hours later and still no official/unofficial info from inside Twitter. I'm going to continue as if this was all done on purpose.
What now? Ivory goes into hyper mode with just the absolute minimum 3-4 things that have to be done finished up and then off to Apple. Probably going to be a bunch of things I'm not super happy with but I guess we'll fix it in post.
Hopefully everyone knows what we're capable of and can live with some, hopefully not long lived, rough edges/missing features.
