Making more progress on the . Softened up the lowlands, fixed LOD background loading, and added some properly-distributed trees.

@LouisIngenthron nice I messed around with Godot before but only for 2D. How do you feel about its 3D so far?

@Maunto Yeah, I started working with it in only 2D too. This was built in the 4.0 beta. So far, I'm really impressed. Everything has been relatively simple (once you figure out Godot's names for things).
In particular, the functionality for mesh instancing the trees was crazy easy to use.
Also, the terrain in the above picture uses a custom shader built in Godot's "Visual Shader" designer (comparable to Unity's "ShaderGraph").

@LouisIngenthron thanks for the info on your experience with it. I was wondering if it was Unity-based as I've seen some projects that looked similar. Designing a character that could move around that world would be one more step towards something like Valheim!

@pistachios Purportedly, a western. But it'll probably never come to fruition (scoped way too big for a single developer), so it's really more of a tech demo to see how far I can push Godot.
