I'm scared of scanning QR codes like my parents are scared of clicking links in emails.

@lucifargundam With links, though, you can check the domain they go to is trusted before following them.

It's been a while since I scanned a QR code, but they just go, don't they? That's what bothers me. I want to see the destination before travelling.

<< Yes- but there are some apps that ask/check first before opening in-browser. But that's just the aforementioned scenario with extra steps.

@LouisIngenthron on my phone I see the URL and must touch it to open it.

NFC tags (which I see as being QR afjacent) just open.
