Can someone please help me find a professional #journalist who has ten minutes to discuss an idea? Ideally someone who works for an #independent #publisher, but someone who works for a big company would be fine too.
I've got a crazy-yet-simple idea that could be a paradigm shifter for #online #journalism and I need someone with real experience to poke some holes in it or it's gonna drive me crazy.
If you don't personally know anyone who might fit the bill, please boost for reach.
@hasmis Not for the old way, no. It needs to adapt.
@LouisIngenthron Sorry, my brain suddenly went into a world where the entire economy of 6000 word essays was handled by chatbots. They would buy and sell for training purposes. Bundles would be securitized, perhaps 'Athenian Democracy'. The chatbots would learn and enter 'Olympic computer games tournaments' for money.... I, of course, would be dead...
@hasmis The biggest problem I see with that is that, even today, nobody reads 6000 word essays. Not even editors.
who benefits in the first place?
@jesuisatire From my idea? In theory?
Everyone. Writers and readers, especially, but even the money people (publishers/owners) might gain a slight revenue advantage too.
Why don't you just put it out here in the open so we can brainstorm on it?
this is a free source environment ..
@jesuisatire I'm tempted, but I've had too many ideas in my lifetime that I didn't have the resources to act on that others did and got rich off of.
This idea I have would be remarkably easy to implement...
or copy, yet it would need some semblance of a network effect to work. Therefore, its only path to success is building and then occupying its niche, sort of like Substack did. That means first one in the door wins.
I have a vested interest in sharing this with interested parties that could ultimately help build the initial momentum needed for the network effect, but putting it out in public would only work to my detriment. Especially if people respond positively to it, that just increases the chance that a millionaire with media connections swoops in and does it first.
sry, if it's not decentralized and free source, no interest in working for individual "network" effects.

@jesuisatire Oh, I wouldn't mind open-sourcing it after launch. Like I said. It only matters until the first one is through the door.
@LouisIngenthron No money in journalism. Maybe talk to a dead cat...
