I'm excited the Center for Open Science's free virtual Unconference on Open Scholarship Practices in Education Research is back, March 9-10, 2023. This is a great conference for folks who want to connect with others in education research and anyone who teaches open science.

If you're interested in participating, they're accepting submissions for unconference sessions, lightning talks, and workshops until January 13, 2023. cos.io/unconference

I'm so excited that the next @improvingpsych conference is going to be in Kenya! The host is Busara, one of the first behavioral science research institutes in the Global South and a recent recipient of a $2.5 million MacKenzie Scott grant. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to expand my understanding of how science is done in a variety of settings, including in the non-profit space.

We're conducting an online study about people's experiences with peer review in personality psychology. Your participation will help develop suggestions for the future of peer review practices in the field. Click here for more information: tinyurl.com/t7ec9v6c Boosts are appreciated!

We (ok, actually just Marton Kovacs, who had done all of the programming so far) are making progress on a web browser extension, pasang, to automate entering author info into journal submission systems (especially useful for articles with many authors).

We have started with Nature Human Behavior, used frequently by PsySciAcc. New contributors to the effort are always welcome! If you want another publisher/journal done and have some time to help, let us know.

The Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science is excited to announce it will head to Africa for its ninth annual hybrid meeting. We are very happy to announce that SIPS 2024 will be held in Nairobi, Kenya and will be hosted by Busara, one of the first behavioral science research institutes in the Global South and a recent recipient of a $2.5 million MacKenzie Scott grant.

The theme of the conference is bridge-building, as we search for ways to continue to grow as a community by learning from researchers around the world and in different settings, like the non-profit space.

Does anyone have any tips in how to help undergrads develop a research question? Especially using a secondary dataset?

Proud of the Psychological Science Accekerator for winning the institutional prize of the Einstein foundation!

I’m going to make a thread of our #PsyTeachR resources. We’re a group of psychologists at #UniversityOfGlasgow who are passionate about teaching #OpenScience. We love #rstats, but the R actually stands for #reproducibility. We’ve made a series of textbooks for undergrad and postgrad methods, plus some other resources. All our materials are CC-BY-SA, so you freely use and adapt them.

Data Skills by @emilynordmann & Heather Cleland Woods

Our first-year undergraduate course covers current state of psychological science and what Open Science is as well as its importance. It also aims to make students confident and competent at using RStudio as a tool to achieve good data management skills.
