@futurebird @Simian60 Years ago in undergrad, I took a course in "environmental systems for engineers" where the course was mostly about wastewater treatment, because that's where most of the problems lie. Septic systems weren't even in regular use until the 1940s.

Although to be fair, when the prof for that course retired, Johnny Carson called him out for his recognition as the King of Activated Sludge. So a little glamorous!
