Why I love Mastodon: someone famous got married to someone else famous today and my wife told me about it. I didn’t see one person talking about it here. Thanks for being great.

There's hundreds of these videos now, but for your #schadenfreude enjoyment I chose the one with the soundtrack "Take a Long Line" by the Australian hard rock group the Angels (1978)

#Russia is running out of gas

Who could have predicted this in 2022?

Someone in #Ukraine in the last few years did

And then delivered

Fabulous

It is now July 4, 2026, and thus officially the 250th anniversary of our wonderful Nation's adventure into the realm of independence, freedom, and democracy.

Nothing would be more appropriate than for it to happen today.

The odds are it won't happen today.

But take heart in the fact that it will indeed happen—soon! 🍾🥂—and that most of us will still be here to witness it. 🔥🎇🎆

So please keep the faith.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

God bless America!!!

Here’s Why Weather Forecasts Have Seemed So Inaccurate Lately

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was among several agencies gutted by the Trump Admin’s Department of Government Efficiency in 2025. In February, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management abruptly fired 880 NOAA employees.

RE: beige.party/@RickiTarr/1168508

I’m in the same place as my beautiful pocket friend, Ricki. America’s 250th birthday, under this regime, has finally ripped away the gauze overlay that hid the real rotten machinery underpinning our entire failing empire.

We are a country where 14 MILLION children go hungry every day, and we have billionaires who boast about not paying taxes. And they’re still alive. A million Americans are unhoused, 50,000 of them are people who served in the armed forces. They offered their lives for this country, we used them, and sent them to the gutters.

We have crushing medical debt, our infrastructure is failing, our education system is dead last in “first world” countries.

We have failed our citizens and elevated our failsons to the point of being “too big to fail”. I think maybe we should start over, this time without the baked in racism and capitalism.

I don't want to be right. I want to be wrong. I want to be so wrong that the comparison is seen as offensive.

But I'm not wrong, because the leading Nazis of our time LOVE Israel, and the leading anti fascists of our time HATE Israel. Everyone sees what the Zionists are doing, and they've picked sides

OTD in 1988, the United States shot down an Iranian passenger plane with two surface-to-air missiles fired from a US Navy warship.

The 290 passengers and crew of Iran Air Flight 655 were all killed.

Despite agreeing to pay millions to the victims’ families, the US never admitted liability.

The Democratic Socialists want your children to be fed healthy nourishing food and receive the best possible medical care, and to do that they intend to raise taxes on a handful of corrupt and squalid pedophiliac monsters who have stolen 1000x more money than anyone can spend—well not in MY America.

It is annoying when the customer wants me to RDP into one of their machines to review code instead of letting me have a local copy.

It is even more annoying when they want me to double RDP from a perimeter machine to an inner machine.

It is even more annoying when the inner machine nonetheless has complete unfettered internet access, so there’s not even a theoretical point to all those hoops.

All of this has happened to me before. But the customer has found a new way to be even more annoying, to obstruct me doing my job for them even more: putting a limit of two simultaneous RDP logins on a machine allocated to a team of three reviewers.
