However, because they now have offices in the United States — along with registrations, trademarks, copyrights, and patents in the U.S. — they also cite U.S. laws. The only two countries you'll see mentioned are Switzerland and the United States — nothing else.

Their CEO has, on several occasions, also praised Donald Trump. Additionally, Proton left the Fediverse because they couldn’t silence users there as they have on platforms like Facebook or Reddit. The fact that they’re now trying to silence journalists doesn’t surprise me.

There are better alternatives to Proton Mail.
