Companies have poured millions of dollars into forest carbon offsets so they can keep emitting greenhouse gases.

It's not working.

Scientists at @nasa and the University of California Irvine looked at 37 forest carbon offset projects across #California. They found the amount of carbon stored isn't increasing and logging isn't slowing down over the past decade

The North Carolina Supreme Court struck down the state’s photo voter identification law and the election map used for state Senate races.

These are two big wins in our state!

In Holmes v. Moore, the court threw out North Carolina’s 2018 voter ID law.

In Harper v. Hall, the court tossed out North Carolina’s state Senate election map.

Both of these cases come down to voter disenfranchisement in our state. We must keep fighting because this is far from over.

@heidilifeldman Riding in the car, listening to NPR discuss the death of the Russian Premier (probably Chernenko). I said to my dad that I almost felt bad for the russians even though they were evil. He asked me where I heard that he russians are evil, and told me how my socialist grandparents suffered under McCarthyism in the 50s.

Journalists, I am begging you:

Organize.

Tap your networks, figure out what collective action you are going to take against Musk, and then do it.

He may not realize it, but his platform lives & dies by your participation.

You may be under attack, but you have the cards.

In the last few days I ... wrote about Elon Musk. I posted links to publicly available, legally acquired data as well as links to Mastodon, which also now is banned on Twitter.

Elon Musk is free to ban whoever he wants from Twitter, just like people are free to take their speech somewhere else.

True wisdom comes from recognizing that we don't have all the answers and that there is always more to learn. It is a reminder to be humble and open-minded, and to approach life with a sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn.
