Okay, so, I just found out that I'm being laid off. My department is being completely dissolved.

I'm really sad, because I was doing full remote data entry, and I've never been happier with a job in my life. My mental health has never been better, either.

So, can anyone point me towards a fully-remote position that involves working with data, not phones? I swear, I'm super qualified and really good at this. I work hard, and I'm dependable.

I've been privy to convos with other admins about moderating and defederation, and the sheer panic white people have been showing about cutting off instances with members that target marginalized communities is so telling.

There has been so much effort put into trying to convince targets of bigotry of hate to be patient with harassment as opposed to putting pressure on awful instances to do better.

And I'm not talking about out-and-out bigots. I'm talking about white people who view themselves as progressive and open-minded.

There is this expectation that we should endure abuse for a better fedi.

Which is pure insanity. If someone is coming at me to harm me, I'm not going to pray they get better. I'm going to *eliminate the threat.*

Am I the only one who thinks its odd that #ai companies all seem to have fired their Ethics / Responsibility folks at the same time - and just as greater scrutiny comes to these technologies?
