Let's cut the bullshit and spell out a few things. The IT security industry is about as trustworthy as the food supplement and vitamin industry, but somehow they escaped the same reputation. Their products are overwhelmingly based on flawed ideas, and the quality of their software is exceptionally bad. And while not everyone will agree with the harshness of my words, I'll say this: Essentially everyone in IT security who knows anything in principle knows this.

Hey fellow #Linux users, despite #CrowdStrike only affecting #Windows, this is not really a windows problem.

This is an "automatic update that got forced onto everyone with insufficient testing while also having way too many permissions" problem.

If you think big corps wouldn't run something similar on Linux, I have a an NFT of a bridge to sell you.

FYI: I don't have any #ssh open to the internet but I do run a couple of public-facing services and some machines are #Debian so yeah, you bet your butt I've been updating a lot today.

TLDR: There's a verified issue in OpenSSH in Debian. Update All The Things.

Bought a drone last night. This could be a lot of fun, or five minutes of fun, we shall see.

The best part is that I got to watch the eclipse with my Grandmother.

@QOTO Is this instance blocking threads.net? I don't care one way or another, but I've noticed some people asking. Thanks.

No need to paraphrase. First paragraph says it all:

"Claims that artificial intelligence will help solve the climate crisis are misguided, with the technology instead likely cause rising energy use and turbocharge the spread of climate disinformation, a coalition of environmental groups has warned."

I rebooted into Windows 11 for the first time in a while. I found the new Microsoft Copilot app. There is one good use for it.

The amount of misogynistic comments on my latest video is just off the charts.

You can doubt the new CEO for her skills, her vision, experience, or the companies she worked at. But saying « another woman CEO, Mozilla is dead » is just… wow.

It’s 2024, people. Seriously. WTF.

You can imagine my horror when I pulled a labeled "Harmonica Moods" out of a Tchaikovsky sleeve. Fortunately, "Romeo and Juliet" were right where they should be.
