TIL about "thought-terminating clichés". rationalwiki.org/wiki/Thought-

A thought-terminating cliché is a saying, often a tautology, that is repeated in order to relieve the stress of cognitive dissonance by avoiding all further consideration of a matter. Everyday examples include "it is what it is," "it's just common sense," and "you gotta do what you gotta do."
Thought-terminating clichés are an important aspect of mind control as used by cults. For example, the Unification Church uses the cliché "you think too much," while Alcoholics Anonymous says "your best thinking got you here" and "utilize, don't analyze."
Examples:
* The Lord works in mysterious ways.
* All's well that ends well.
* You never know until you try.
* You never succeed for not trying.
* Do, or do not, there is no try.
* Make of it what you will but…
* If you don't like it, don't buy it.
* That's just your opinion.
* I'm just saying.
* Do your own research.

Well, I don't think that's true at all. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

@Pat @soundwave
"I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree." <-- that could be one of them... ;>
But true be told from my side I agree with ALL OF YOU <--- lol bet you never came across anyone who said that EVER!

To summarise I think it all can be used in different ways or have different meaning per phrase.

I LOVE that soundwave added this kind of list as it does have patterns (in what context too)...

So agree it applies,
And if I must come down from my Goldy podium to use the word 'disagree' I would say things cane be used in certain context or however people use them, not always in the same way or deliberate. And even I can see it as a terminator of a sentence and then in 'varied amounts' use to deflect or end if tired or not entertaining etc.. Like "do your own research" really stands out as working in many ways and "You never know until you try" solve the many problems I see which is inexperience of people / talking before trying.
