I think using a CW in a post merely because it contains civics information (politics) is one of most anti-democratic things I've seen on fedi.

@Pat I agree that politics shouldn't get an automatic content warning. However, if the issue is likely to be inflammatory, I'll voluntarily put it behind a CW because it's a distraction for a science-focused instance like QOTO.
If I were on a more political or general instance, I might behave differently. But maybe not—I appreciate that my sympathetic nervous system is not constantly prodded by every post like it would be on other social networks.
@Pat I have yet to make up my mind which side I’m on regarding this issue. Not all politics is about civics—sometimes it’s literally mudslinging between 2 people. At the same time, another part of me thinks the responsibility to filter out unwanted content should be on the person who doesn’t want to see stuff. It’s condescending to take away agency from neuro-atypical users. Idk if I’m being contrarian tho
