Holy crap! Millionaires literally saying "Please, tax us!"
>'"Holy crap! Millionaires literally saying "Please, tax us!"'
Billionaires want to pay more in taxes. All they have to do is write a goddamn check and send it in.
What are they protesting?
If you add up every dollar that every person and entity receives, every time a dollar changes hands in the US, it totals about 1600 trillion dollars per year.
If you tax that at a flat rate without any exemptions or deductions, what would the tax rate be to fund all the government programs you want?
I'll let you figure it out.
@Pat Yeah, that might make sense if we were talking about "every time a dollar changes hands" but that's not what we're talking about.
We're talking about Income and Wealth taxes. Working-class people don't have the option to hide their money in "investments" and then live off even more tax breaks via loans that use those investments as collateral.
Many working-class people can barely make ends meet even having 2 or 3 jobs that don't even allow for a healthy amount of sleep, never mind having a normal life or taking care of kids.
But of course, you're right. Why would we want the super-wealthy to pay their fair share like everyone else? It makes oh so much brilliant sense to tax the poor more and the rich less.
Get your ass outta my notifications. My original post was just pointing out the tiny bit of positive news in that some of the rich people recognized the system is rigged in their favor and they don't want it rigged at all.
There's actually much more concerning shit to worry about in the country at the moment, like the quiet genocide that's been going on that you and most other's probably know next to nothing about.
And before you ask "What genocide?" here are the stages of genocide (a slow and gradual process if you didn't already know that) so you can educate yourself and ponder on which groups of people this might apply to.
