@dave It's a bug in Gab Social. Explanation:
There are "posts" in the database. Each post has a field called "parent", which stores the ID of another post.
The threaded view focuses a single post, then loads the tree by recursing the posts.
When a post is created in the database, the "parent" field is populated. For federated posts, there's some logic that happens first, which relies on how the URL routes are configured. Gab changed the URL routes, causing the "parent" field to become empty.
As a result, federated posts become orphaned. It's a really obscure bug.
