@mcp interesting questions rised by a pointless night debate:

1. You can be a moral person without being able to read, but can you be a ethical person without studying ethics at all?

2. Can philosophy have "market vaue"?

I'd answer "no" to both questions: people should not seek a marketable skill when studying philosophy and while moral behaviour is intuitive, ethical behaviour requires a kind of awareness that can (almost) only derive from study.
