Sure, but likewise, "Some" users are reporting that it's still not working...
@gcluley BTW, the update is wrong. Right now, in Italy many users are still facing issues. Me included.

Unfortunately, I'd have no idea where to start.
@Shamar This is a good thing to do even in case there's no risk of collapse. The best networks can have failure modes that are hard to diagnose and fix. In such circumstances, offline (and off power) systems of data like books would be extremely useful
I don't have the skill, but it would be wise to build a collection of books that cover such fundamental skill set.
While I'm a decent programmer and I know a bit or two about networking protocols, I don't know anything about electronics.
But I would be happy to have in my own library this sort of civilization backup.
A chain is only as strong as the weakest of its link.
So ultimately this "diffused trust" is just trusting the worst miner in the system.
The difference between a blockchain and a centralized database is that in the latter you somewhat know who you are trusting and they know they are accountable to you.
Now again, if you really trust each member of the system, the #blockchain can work for you.
But the "usefulness" of it decrease quadratically as the number of nodes increase: indeed it's only useful if and until each member of the community that run and use it trust every other member.
And a new member must deserve the trust of each other before being permitted to join the system.
And such trust must be very stable over time.

Except that PoWs (and thus PoS) are not #trustless.
You trust each member of the grid to not invest overwhelming computing power to subvert the #blockchain.
In a local community where everybody knows and trust each other, this might work.
On a larger scale, it won't.

"I don't wanna kidnap princesses!" whined the little dragon.
"Then you needn't," replied the little dragon's father.
"But grampa said."
"Grampa is very old, and things were different in his time," the little dragon's father explained, "So if you'd rather kidnap princes, you have your mother's and my support."
"But I don't wanna kidnap ANYBODY."
The larger dragon paused, puzzling this fact.
"You... could develop Ransomware?"
"Ew!"
New essay: Seven theses on the Fediverse and the becoming of FLOSS
Recently, @rra and I have been working on an essay highlighting questions about the #Fediverse and how these are getting entangled with #FLOSS practices. From software production to structure and governance within alternative social media, online communities and politics.
The text follows a multi theses model, to map the different things we've been looking at and publish the current state of our research.
It is the closing chapter of a new publication from INC/Transmediale (https://networkcultures.org/blog/publication/the-eternal-network)
PDF of the text: https://monoskop.org/images/c/cc/Mansoux_Aymeric_Abbing_Roel_Roscam_2020_Seven_Theses_on_the_Fediverse_and_the_Becoming_of_FLOSS.pdf
Feedback welcome. We're planning to publish an online version with more references!

Having said that, if you need some paperwork from me, no problem, just ask.
And... thanks @mwlucas for your tips! Really I didn't thought about this stuffs.
As for my own text, I hereby publicily grant @ekaitz_zarraga and #ElenQ the non-exclusive right to earn as much money as he can by printing and selling and otherwise distributing "What is Informatics" in any format and by any means.
I'd strongly prefer it to not be distributed over #surveillance systems (#Google, #Facebook and so on...) but I know no way to prevent it.
I'm very happy if he can become rich by selling such essay, but honestly I don't need such money. My priority is to spread the contents of the essay.
