Today I first learned how to drive a standard. Or stick some may be called it. It was rainy when I was practicing. Right now I have the problem how to start the car…
It stalled server times and one time there is a car behind me. I was nerves
What I need working on is to find the Engagement point on the
Clutch and when I watch YouTube I found a theory that is:
When the car is about to stall, push the clutch back in fast in order to avoid needing to returning the car on. Is that correct?
The practice is the best teacher, get off the clutch very gently and put little gas on. The car will start faster,
Correct me if I’m wrong. Or if you have any tips on how to driving standard.
Thank you for your encouragement.
My teacher told me, when need stop at red light, need both on brake and clutch, but when I watch YouTube, I found people just use brake. In your view, which one is right?
@design_RG thank you that’s very helpful!
@Sphinx You need to use both pedals -- the brake to slow down the vehicle, and the clutch to release the gear, before proceeding to a full stop.
If you simply use the brake, hard enough and the engine will stall, die.
If I see a red light ahead a half block or so, what I normally do is take the clutch and gear to neutral, then let the car coast to a stop, not braking much until I am close to it; sometimes it will change to green while you are still rolling to it, clutch in and apply a gear that seems right to the current rolling speed (not the first one usually).
