@BlackAzizAnansi
I’ve only been on Mastodon a couple of weeks and this is the first very interesting thread I’ve seen. Very interesting responses. Why do you think there “should” be a bigger black user presence? Because it’s an alternative to Twitter? Do you think there’s any value to Mastodon? Curious…
We don't need to pretend to find this mysterious.

And the bonus of watching Tom Brady flounder is priceless.

I also like to dip into TikTok once in a while. For me, it’s mindless fun. Not unlike any other social media actually. And I too don’t really get the overwhelming fears about China and TikTok while at the same time a South African, apartheid fascist is in charge of Twitter? This from the “liberal” media…yuck…

Haven’t heard much from Mr. Taibbi now have we? Where did Matt go? Doesn’t he have any more hard-hitting journalism to provide for us?
File under dribs and drabs: for those that might not know, Orange county was thick with the Klan for the better part of the 20th century. In fact, they really never went away and are alive and well in places like Huntington Beach. However, this is a pretty big deal:

Those simpleton critics are always looking at the facts and coming to conclusions. When will they make it complicated enough for a NYT editorial?

They started chipping away at the government when Reagan declared the 9 most terrifying words and stacked the FCC to build a 24/7 spigot out of Rush Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch. If you live in rural, AM radioland and keep hearing about how "terrifying" the government is and it's only there for "welfare queens" you start believing it. These guys have had a head start on the damage for forty years, Supreme Court and all. You are spot on about how January 6th and Trump have been direct hits. I only disagree on one point and that is knife fights and rules. It's not about breaking the rules for liberals. It's about, at the very least, defending yourself if you find yourself in a knife fight.

Looks like uncle Larry had one too many before Thanksgiving dinner. So bitter.
The confederacy was never given a proper burial. Poetic justice would be that those most harmed by the confederacy would finally put a bullet in the zombie. I wasn’t sure what I thought of this when I first saw it, but after the Warnock a victory in Georgia, it’s starting to make sense to me.
1/ Someone asked, "How can basic HTML pages be social media -- and create something resembling the public square?" So here's a thread 🧵
If you were not around to witness the early web, let me explain what it was like.
During the 90s, most websites just used HTML. CSS and JavaScript existed in the latter part of the decade, but they were entirely optional.
The appeal of the web wasn't "rich media". Again, that came later.
What made the web exciting is what also made it social: hyperlinking

@Davidtoddmccarty has anyone ever seen Jesus and Santa Claus in the same room together? The truth is out there.
Jiu-jitsu liberal. Couldn't drink well enough to be a writer or a lawyer. Became a stoned philosopher instead. Sometimes pay the bills.
