@sadladpress@freespeechextremist.com I can not deny this. :dealwithitparrot:

@cm I have to check exactly when they left, but I think it was before 39. My family fled when they saw the way the wind was blowing.

I swear, if we have to go to third elections this year I'm going to have a fit.

@georgia@spinster.xyz @Giyadas I haven't yet. It's been years since I played Beneath a Steel Sky.

@Giyadas @georgia@spinster.xyz Tape storage also wasn't as popular in the US as disk storage. I know very few people who had to sit 15 minutes for a game to load. :P

@Giyadas @georgia@spinster.xyz I was born near the end of the 8-bit era. I saw C64s and other 8-bit machines, even used them a little.

Most of my early computer use was with MS DoS and gaming therein. Most of my actual gaming was on console, though, apart from my love of various sierra adventure games (King's Quest, et al.)

@georgia@spinster.xyz It really depends. They've branched out into different styles.

The Mainline Megaman games are classic and even the more recent ones keep that retro feel.

The Megaman X games are fantastic, too. And as far as platformers go I prefer those.

@georgia@spinster.xyz The first I played was that first LoZ. It was more expensive than implementing a password feature so it wasn't ubiquitous.

Most of the games I played from that era either didn't have ANY form of saving (Like Super Mario Bros) or used a password (Like Megaman.)

You tended to see the battery backup on RPGs, but even that wasn't a sure thing.

@georgia@spinster.xyz I remember when you had to do that with cartridge based games because no one put in battery backups.

This is one of them: 🐀
This might be the other one: 🐁

@cm Cool. I'm looking for more the earlier cut off. A lot of my family left right before things got really bad.

@georgia@spinster.xyz I'm a lot of things!

@sadladpress@freespeechextremist.com Yeah, the one with the swinging arms.

@sadladpress@freespeechextremist.com It's about a fortnite dance.
